1. The US president reaffirms his commitment to maintain what he calls Israel's military edge in the Middle East. 

2. Bahrain security forces have attacked anti-regime protesters in the village of Diraz using tear gas and rubber bullets.

7. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has revealed that Syria's conflict has displaced nearly half of the country's 23-million population since 20-11. 

8. Police in Italy have arrested ten suspected smugglers in connection with the deaths of 52 asylum seekers.
