1. Fresh clashes have broken out between pro-PKK protesters and Turkish police in the Gazi district of Istanbul. Protesters threw molotov cocktails at police vehicle during the protest rally. This, after early deadly clashes between PKK militants and Turkish army in the volatile southeast.

2. At least nine people have been killed in fresh clashes between PKK militants and security forces in southeastern Turkey. Security sources say two children are among the victims of the attacks carried out by PKK militants in the provinces of Sirnak and Diyarbakir.

3. Palestine has asked the UN to raise its flag at the world body’s headquarters ahead of next month’s meeting of heads of state in New York. A draft resolution was presented to the General Assembly requesting that the flags of Palestine and the Vatican be hoisted alongside those of the other 193 member states.

4. The US envoy to the United Nations has warned Congress that rejecting the Iran nuclear deal would lead to diplomatic isolation for Washington. Samantha Power says a no vote to the agreement would also undermine the United State’s ability to achieve its foreign policy goals.

5. Iran's ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi says Tehran does not need the atomic agency’s approval to build any structures at its sites. This, after a fresh IAEA report said that Iran appears to have constructed a small extension to an existing building at Parchin military site.

6. Hundreds are feared dead after two boats packed with asylum seekers capsized off the Libyan coastal city of Zuwarah. Libyan security officials say there were several hundred people on board the boats. The migrants are reportedly from sub-Saharan Africa, Pakistan, Syria, Morocco and Bangladesh.

7. The United Nations refugee agency says several thousand people have been forced to flee their homes following days of clashes in the Central African Republic town of Bambari. Violence flared up in the country on August 20 after Christian militants beheaded a Muslim teenager. The beheading prompted a retaliatory attack by Muslims.

8. Chilean police have used water cannons to end a clash between truck-drivers and Mapuche Indians in the capital Santiago. The truck drivers were towing vehicles they said were torched by Mapuche radical groups in the Araucania region. The Mapuche community demands a return of their ancestral lands and autonomous rule.
