1. Greece’s outgoing prime minister has ruled out forming a national unity government in case he fails to win an outright majority in snap elections. Alexis Tsipras dismissed suggestions that he could work with the conservative opposition New Democracy, or other parties like Potami and PASOK.

2. Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters and allied army units fire retaliatory shells at a Saudi military base in Hathirah in the kingdom’s Jizan region. Yemeni forces also launched a Scud missile into the same region. There has been no word on possible casualties yet.

3. Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has invited eleven opposition members to join an interim power-sharing cabinet. The invitation has already been turned down by the Republican People’s Party and the Nationalist Movement Party. Both have threatened their members with disciplinary measures in case they take part in the interim government.

4. At least five people have been killed in an attack by foreign-backed militants in Syria’s central city of Homs. More than 30 others were injured when an artillery shell hit a gas station. Local media say the shell was fired from the town of Talbiseh, near Homs.

5. Iraqi Kurdish fighters have flushed ISIL terrorists out of several villages in the northern province of Kirkuk. The provincial police chief says dozens of terrorists were killed in villages near the town of Daquq. A senior Kurdish officer was also reportedly killed in the operation.

6. A global NGO says about one thousand Palestinian children are suffering from permanent disabilities as a result of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip last year. The Defense for Children International, says nearly 550 Palestinian children were killed while sheltering in homes and schools during the 50-day war.

7. A ceasefire between rival groups in Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp has restored calm after several days of clashes. The truce in the Ayn al-Hilweh camp, near the southern Lebanese port city of Sidon, came on Tuesday following street battles between militants and members of Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas’ Fatah movement.

8. The man suspected of shooting dead two journalists in the US state of Virginia has died of self-inflicted injuries. The suspect, identified as Vester Flanagan, killed reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward during an interview in the town of Moneta. The victims were working for a local affiliate of broadcaster CBS.
