These are the headlines we are tracking for you in this edition of On the News Line:

1. US Vice President Joe Biden has once again brought up the partition plan for Iraq. The Russian Foreign Minister, however, says it's up to Iraqi's to decide the fate of their own country.

2. The US presidential elections: VP Joe Biden gets Obama's blessing to run. But aren't the parties splitting, like Bernie Sanders gaining on Clinton, and Trump hinting he may go as an independent?

3. Japan has gone from defense to offense. After decades of defense posturing, Japan has switched its forces to be allowed to go abroad for combat. Speculations abound that a war may be brewing in East Asia.

4. Stock market crash, followed by an oil price plunge. It was black Monday, and very reminiscent of the global financial crisis. China's slowing economy has been blamed for stock markets heavy losses, unless China deliberately devalued the yuan to pressure the dollar.
