Young Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers win two gold medals
Young Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers have exhibited admirable handgrip skills at the 2015 Cadet World Championships in Bosnia and Herzegovina to astound the spectators and snatch two gold medals.
On Tuesday and day one of the competitions at the Amel Beckovic Sports Hall in Sarajevo, Amin Kaviyaninejad downed his Belarusian opponent, Egor Vladyka, 2-1 in the last encounter of men’s 58-kilogram weight category and collected the gold medal.
Edgar Tamazyan from Armenia defeated American competitor Taylor Lamont 3-1 to pick up the bronze. German athlete Andrej Ginc beat Turkey’s Emin Can Meric 1-1 to receive another bronze in this category.
Kaviyaninejad, who had a bye in the first round, overpowered Georgi Iliev, a representative from Bulgaria, 8-0 by a technical fall in his first contest.
He later routed Lamont from the United States 1-0 and Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Tamazyan 2-0 in his march to the final bout.
In the 100-kilogram category, Iran’s Amin Mirzadeh overwhelmed Hungarian athlete Robert Ersek 2-0 in the last competition to take home another gold medal.
Patryk Kaminski from Poland and Kazakhstan’s Anton Savenko snatched the bronze.
The 2015 Cadet World Championships opened in Sarajevo on August 25, and will finish on August 30.
Dozens of wrestlers from different countries, including Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Poland, Russia and the United States have taken part in the tournament.
