US connives support for terrorism from its soil, analyst says

The United States connivance against support for terrorism on its soil is disgraceful, says a political commentator.

Dean Henderson’s Tuesday remarks followed reports that a tax-exempt Israeli organization has been raising funds in New York to support Israeli settlers convicted of or on trial for violence against Palestinians.

“It's just disgrace that the US allows this people to operate on its soil,” said the author and columnist at Veterans Today.

Honenu has been operating since 2003 and raised $233,700 in 2010 alone.

According to documents the Israeli Channel 10 claims to have obtained, the group’s budget was $600,000 in 2013, about one-quarter of which was spent on lawyers to defend the settlers’ aggression against Palestinians while some $50,000 went directly to Jewish prisoners.

T'ruah, The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, asked the New York state Attorney General’s Office in a lawsuit filed on Monday to investigate the Israeli nonprofit organization over its financial support, including a 2013 case in which funds were provided to the family of an Israeli convicted of killing seven Palestinians in May 1990.

More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 settlements built since Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank in 1967.

The settlers, mostly extremist Jews, keep committing atrocities of all kinds against Palestinians, including the so-called “price tag” attacks against the local people’s properties amid inaction by Israeli soldiers.

Every now and then, the regime in Tel Aviv holds trials for the aggressors but they are practically supported by organizations such as the New York-based Honenu.

For instance, $14,000 was given to the families of two men who planned the bombing of a Palestinian girl school in al-Quds in 2013, according to the documents.

On the other hand, settlers are also encouraged by Israel’s Zionist rabbis to continue anti-Palestinian attempts.

"The Sanhedrin court, which sits on Mount Zion in holy Jerusalem, hereby strengthens your spirits and reduces your sorrow, as you were seized while acting for the respect of God and the nation of Israel, risking your lives for the holiness of the nation and the Land," Rabbis Yisrael Ariel, Daniel Cohen and Yoel Schwartz wrote after the regime’s detention of several settlers following an arson attack in Duma earlier this month.

The UN and most countries regard the Israeli settlements as illegal because the territories were captured by Israel in a war in 1967 and are hence subject to the Geneva Conventions, which forbids construction on occupied lands.

As Tel Aviv continues illegal constructions amid global silence, the settlers appear to be systematically placed there to function as the regime’s crackdown machine to push away Palestinians from their mother land.
