Australia to hold 4th Persian International Film Festival in Sydney

Australia is to host the 4th Persian International Film Festival.

Australia is set to hold the 4th edition of Persian International Film Festival in the city of Sydney.

The annual festival will screen over 20 documentaries, animations, as well as short and feature-length films from Iran and other countries, including the US, Georgia, France, the UK, Afghanistan and Australia.

Crazy Rook by Abolhassan Davoudi, Love Quake by Amir-Hossein Torabi and Simorgh by Meqdad Asadi-Lari are among the Iranian productions which will hit the screens during the upcoming festival.

The 4th Persian Film Festival will also include panel discussion sessions with filmmakers from Iran, the US and Australia.

Cinema-lovers will also be able to attend a special screening of Love Marriage in Kabul, a documentary from Iranian director Amin Palangi.

The film has won numerous awards, including the 2014 Foxtel Audience Award for Best Documentary at Sydney Film Festival and the Best Documentary award of the 2014 Canberra International Film Festival.

All the proceeds from the screening of Palangi’s film will go to Mahboba’s Promise Charity, an Australian non-profit organization dedicated to the women and children of Afghanistan.

The 2015 Persian International Film festival will run from September 3 to 6 at Sydney’s Palace Cinemas Leichhardt.
