Peace activist Miko Peled has described Washington’s criticism of Saudi Arabia’s bombing of the Yemeni city of Hudaydah as “hypocrisy.”

“Of course, it’s hypocrisy,” he told Press TV on Friday.

He made the comments after the United States criticized Saudi Arabia over launching airstrikes on Hodeida, calling the Red Sea port a "lifeline" for humanitarian relief.

Saudi warplanes bombed the city on Tuesday, killing several dock workers and destroying the port’s infrastructure.

The international community condemned the Saudi offensive, with one United Nations aid official telling the Security Council that the airstrikes were "in clear contravention of international humanitarian law."

The White House expressed its “deep concerns” over the Saudi atrocity.

Peled also said all American interventions in the Middle East are disaster.

“This is America. This is American policy in the Middle East. This is American policy around the world,” he said.

Saudi Arabia launched its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 – without a UN mandate – in an effort to undermine Yemen’s popular Houthi Ansarullah movement and also restore power to the country’s fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.
