US military to drastically increase drone flights in conflict zones

The United States is planning to step up its drone flights over the next four years to boost intelligence and combat capabilities across a growing number of conflict zones.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon seeks to expand the number of daily flights by 50 percent. The move is to provide commanders with extra surveillance in regions such as Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, the South China Sea and North Africa. It will also increase the Pentagon's capacity in using drones for targeted killings. The decision marks the first significant rise in Washington's controversial drone program since 2011. The US assassination drones have killed thousands of people in Muslim countries, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen.
