Iranian volleyball players have dominated Thailand with a straight-set win in their opening match at the classification round of the 2015 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship in Tehran to maintain their winning streak with a clean sheet.

On Monday, title-holders started the game, played at the 12,000-seater Azadi Sport Complex in western Tehran, in energetic fashion. Thai sportsmen coped well with Iran’s tactics, which saw both sides in full strength to fight for points.

The host nation eventually bolted out to a 25-20 first set victory over Thailand.

The Iranian volleyball players kept momentum in the second set and scored points to pull out a dramatic 25-11 victory.

The Iranian outfit continued to chip away in the third set and was off to a 25-20 lead.

Iran B national volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday as it plays against South Korea. The match would most likely be a clash of the Titans as both sides have yet to lose a match in the tournament.

It is a rematch of the previous episode’s final, where Iranians powered past South Koreans in straight sets in the 2013 last showdown.

Iran has been pitted against Chinese Taipei, South Korea and Thailand in Pool E of the classification round.

Australia, China, Japan and Qatar form Pool F, while Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman and Pakistan are drawn in Pool G. Pool H comprises Bahrain, India, Sri Lanka and Turkmenistan.

Iranian volleyball players jubilate following a straight win over Chinese Taipei at the preliminary round of the 2015 Asian Volleyball Championship in Azadi Sport Complex, western Tehran, Iran, on August 2, 2015.

Iran thrashed Chinese Taipei in comfortable straight sets (25-16, 25-16 and 25-19) on Sunday to end up its Pool A round-robin preliminary matches.

The 2015 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship opened at Azadi Sport Complex in western Tehran on July 31 and will run until August 8.
