Press TV has conducted an interview with Abdullah Abdullah, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council in Ramallah, about the Palestinian Authority (PA) filing a lawsuit against Israel with the International Criminal Court in The Hague over a recent terrorist attack in the Israeli-occupied West Bank that killed a Palestinian infant.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: I want to get your reaction to this move at the ICC and how significant this will be for Palestine?

Abdullah: Well we know that this international justice is not really applicable to Israel. Thus far Israel has been experiencing impunity from the international community for the crimes it commits. We still continue to follow this path, trying to bring those criminals to justice and that they should pay the price for the crimes they commit.

In the meantime, we still also encouraging our people to be steadfast, to resist, to confront these criminals, knowing that they are supported, they are protected by the army. It is becoming now an organized group that is practicing criminal acts against the Palestinians, individuals, against their holy sites, churches and mosques and against their means of living.

Press TV: When we talk about of course the ICC and as you have mentioned there is a bit of a track record there when it comes to the ICC. Do you think that it can be trusted to bring to accountability or are there other forms of accountability which the Palestinian Authority for example should be following?

Abdullah: In fact the ICC is the body that has been established for following these crimes against humanity or war crimes committed by individuals or by officials and we have to follow this route, we cannot ignore it. It takes some time sometimes and with perseverance we will definitely reach a point where whether this legal international system will collapse or it will be proving itself to be effective and bring the Israeli criminals to justice but there are other means as well. I mean we are not ignoring the confrontation to these criminals. We are following them on the spot, in the field and we are going to the United Nations also asking for protection of our people. Our Foreign Minister will be today at the United Nations Council on Human Rights in Geneva submitting the report of this crime and previous crimes as well.
