Clinton campaign not concerned by possible Biden run

Clinton recorded her worst favorability score ever in a Quinnipiac survey.

A top aide to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has claimed that her campaign is not concerned about the news that Vice President Joe Biden is giving serious consideration to a White House bid.

"We'll let him make his decision," CNN quoted Jennifer Palmieri, Clinton's campaign spokeswoman, as saying on Sunday.

"However hard it is to secure the Democratic nomination is however hard it is. We have no illusions. We never thought that this was going to be easy," she added.

Biden is reportedly seriously considering challenging Clinton for the Democratic nomination for president. People close to him, however, say his bid remains uncertain.

He is expected to make a final decision as soon as early September, those close to Biden spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

“We have no illusions -- we never thought that this was going to be easy. There's a lot of views in the Democratic Party, and we'll be prepared to handle whatever comes our way," Palmieri said.

She, however, downplayed recent polls that have indicated that voters do not see Clinton as honest and trustworthy to take the White House.

According to a Quinnipiac University Swing State survey, a majority of swing state voters believe that Clinton is not honest and trustworthy to be the president of the country.

"I don't feel that level of discomfort. I don't see a lot of evidence of it. I see Hillary Clinton leading, beating every Republican in most national polls, the vast majority of national polls," she noted.

“In the coverage, it gets lost: She has the most money, and she's beating every Republican in most of the polls. So you can't really ask for much more than that," she added.
