15th season of Iran’s Premier League begins
The first week of the 15th season of Iran’s Premier League (IPL), also known as the Persian Gulf Pro League, has come to an end with a total of 13 goals over two days of matches.
Foulad’s match against Rahahan ended in a 2-2 draw as did Persepolis game against Padideh. In other matches of the day, Malavan downed its guest Zobahan thanks to a solo by Arash Afshin and Teraktorsazi and Naft Tehran played out to a scoreless draw.
On the opening day of the league, Esteqlal dealt Siah Jamegan a 2-1 defeat on Thursday, defending champion Sepahan secured a 1-0 win against Esteqlal Khuzestan, Saba’s match against Esteqlal Ahvaz ended up goalless as did Saipa’s encounter with Gostaresh.
At the end of the week, Esteqlal, Malavan, and Sepahan are on top of the table.
