The US Consul General in al-Quds (Jerusalem) Donald Blome has condemned the burning to death of a Palestinian toddler by Israelis.

“The United States strongly condemns this crime of hate, which killed a Palestinian toddler and critically injured members of his family,” the statement read.

The US official also urged the Israeli law enforcement to find the offenders behind the “vicious terrorist attack” and hold them to justice.

“We note that authorities have directed security forces to use all means to apprehend the murders and bring them to justice forthwith, and urge that such steps be taken quickly to bring the perpetrators of this horrific attack to justice,” the consul added.

The European Union also condemned the attack in a statement, calling for an end to the settler violence. In addition, the EU also demanded a full investigation to the case.

Eighteen-month-old Ali Saad Dawabsha was killed in an arson attack by Israeli settlers in the West Bank village of Duma in the early hours of Friday.

The settlers who came from the nearby settlements threw Molotov cocktails into Palestinian houses, setting two of them ablaze.

According to medical sources in Palestine, the toddler’s parents and his four-year-old brother also suffered severe injuries in the attack.

The Dawabsha family were asleep at the time of the attack and were unable to save their infant son once the house was torched.

Ali Saad’s murder sparked outrage among Palestinians and various groups have called for action to end the settler attacks.
