Israeli settler runs over Palestinian firefighter in al-Khalil

An Israeli settler has run over a Palestinian firefighter in the southern occupied West Bank, inflicting injuries on him.

Palestinian sources said the victim, a member of al-Khalil (Hebron) fire department, was struck in the illegal Israeli settlement of Beit Hagai in southern al-Khalil, located about 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of al-Quds (Jerusalem), as he was helping his colleagues to extinguish a blaze in the area, Arabic-language Shams news agency reported.

Medics from the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) transferred the Palestinian to a hospital in al-Khalil.

Hit-and-runs, arson attacks, baby killings

There have been scores of hit-and-run incidents targeting Palestinians in different parts of the occupied West Bank, with most of them largely going uninvestigated by Israeli authorities.

Some of such events have even resulted in fatalities.

On October 19, 2014, five-year-old Palestinian girl Enas Khalil died after being injured in a similar hit-and-run incident involving an Israeli settler near the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Khalil was one of the two girls that an Israeli settler hit with his car on the main road in the town of Sinjil, near Ramallah. The second girl, identified as eight-year-old Nilin Asfour, was also badly injured in the accident.

Earlier on Friday, two houses were set on fire by Israeli settlers in the village of Duma, located about 25 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Nablus. An 18-month-old Palestinian boy burned to death in one of the houses. The parents of the toddler, Ali Saad Dawabsheh, and his four-year-old brother were also injured in the attack.

Demanding justice for Ali

Clashes broke out later between Israeli forces and Palestinians following the funeral of the infant in al-Khalil.

Protesters threw stones at Israeli forces, who responded by firing live bullets and tear gas canisters. The demonstrators demanded justice for the toddler.

Israeli settlers have in recent years carried out various attacks on Palestinian property in the West Bank and al-Quds (Jerusalem) under the “price tag” label.
