The al-Qaeda-linked Takfiri al-Nusra Front terrorist group in Syria has reportedly waged an attack on the headquarters of a rival, US-trained militant group in the Arab country’s northern Aleppo Province, killing at least 11 of the militants.

The attack on Friday came a day following the abduction by al-Nusra militants of eight terrorists from the anti-Damascus so-called Division 30 armed group, which had been trained and supplied by the US military, said the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) in a statement.

The US military is known to have sponsored and trained many Takfiri militant factions throughout Syria, including the al-Nusra Front, since the foreign-backed militancy against the government began in 2011.

“Al-Nusra attacked at dawn the headquarters of Division 30, near the town of Azaz in the northern province of Aleppo,” said the group, which is based in the UK, in a statement.

According to the report, at least 54 members of Division 30 slipped into Syria in mid-July, equipped with 30 US-made all-terrain vehicles loaded with weapons and ammunition to wage war on Syrian forces in a persisting foreign-backed scheme to force the overthrow of the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

SOHR said that further clashes between the rival anti-Damascus terrorists erupted following the Friday assault, which killed five al-Nusra-linked Takfiri militants as well as six rival terrorists defending Division 30 headquarters.

SOHR’s Director Rami Abdel Rahman claimed that eight of the Division 30 terrorists, including a commander, were kidnapped on Thursday by al-Nusra forces in a village in Aleppo Province.

US Defense Department spokeswoman Commander Elisa Smith denied the abduction of the US-backed militants, saying, “I can confirm that there have been no New Syrian Force personnel captured or detained.”

New Syrian Force is the terminology Washington uses to refer to the Syria-based militants vetted by the US military to purportedly exclude radical elements. The force has also passed a military training course conducted by American troops.

Syria has been dealing with a massive foreign-sponsored militancy for the past four years. The conflict has reportedly killed an estimated 230,000 people so far, including nearly 11,500 children.
