Huckabee: I will not apologize for holocaust remark

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says he will not apologize for invoking the holocaust when criticizing President Barack Obama over the nuclear agreement with Iran.

The former Arkansas governor said on Sunday that the nuclear accord was akin to marching “the Israelis to the door of the oven,” a reference to the holocaust.

"I will not apologize," he said in an appearance on Fox News on Monday.

Huckabee’s comment has drawn sharp criticism from Obama, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and others.

"When the president and Hillary Clinton are all calling you out personally it must be a good day," he said on Fox.

During a news conference in Ethiopia on Monday, Obama said Republicans, seeking to replace him in the 2016 election, were using rhetoric about the July 14 agreement with Iran that was “ridiculous” and “sad.”

"We are creating a culture that is not conducive to good policy or good politics," he said. "The American people deserve better."

Clinton, the Democratic presidential frontrunner, said she was “disappointed” and “really offended personally” by Huckabee’s remarks.

Bush said his fellow GOP rival’s language was “just wrong” and “unfortunate.”

Congress has 60 days to review the Iran agreement and decide whether to approve or reject it.

Senior Republican lawmakers have vowed to do their best effort to scuttle the nuclear pact, which they say will threaten Israel and empower Iran.

Obama has said he would veto any congressional resolution seeking to reject the accord.
