Rodney Martin: West uses economic terrorism for military objectives

Press TV has conducted an interview with Rodney Martin, a former US Congressional staffer in Los Angeles, to discuss the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Ever since the truce came into effect in February, there has been this blame game between the pro-Russia side and the Kiev government. However, with each passing week and month we see that the blames and accusations being leveled are becoming more serious in nature. Where do you see this headed when you look at the trajectory of it all?

Martin: I think what we see, sadly, is we see probably a failure of yet another ceasefire. The Kiev government has no credibility. They are a puppet regime that was installed by the West for the sole purpose of harvesting resources by Europe and by the United States and, specifically, with the eyes on Crimea, but interestingly the people in Crimea exercised self-determination and joined the Russian Federation.

But in prior cases of violation of ceasefires in the past, it was the Kiev government with their build-up of Western and Israeli arm.

Let us understand that Israel has huge culpability involved and here Israel has been shipping arms to the Kiev government and this Kiev interloper government is dominated by dual Israeli citizen Jews. This all has to do with resources and economics and Western geopolitical aims breaking up the Russian Federation.

Press TV: So you are saying that the eventuality of this ceasefire breaking down is quite real - officially speaking that is. So what is next then? Are we going to see the tensions between Russia and the West then escalate as well?

Martin: … the Western provocation using these proxies, using these puppets that they install when they institute a coup, yes I see this healing up and with the American political dynamic, with these very hyper combative neo-cons poised to expand their majorities in the House and in the Senate and on the Presidential side, it is very dangerous. The political situation is a powder keg and, as I have said on prior interviews, when exterior nations have sought to encircle Russia, it has not worked out well for them. We are entering a very serious political situation and I think cooler heads really need to step up and prevail in the dialogue … the separatists will not have shelled themselves, they have no reason to.

Press TV: We have also seen the US capitalize on the situation in Ukraine and expand NATO eastwards, this is something Russia has not been altogether too happy with, and we have seen sanctions being imposed on Russia as well as the pro-Russians within Ukraine as well. Do you think that NATO is going to further capitalize on this and we are going to see a wider confrontation because it is no longer just limited within the borders of Ukraine?

Martin: There is certainly the potential. All of the ingredients for this are in place and the dynamics of what we are seeing are almost very similar to August 1914, and let us understand what NATO is. NATO started out as a response to the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact, and it has become basically a tool for Western and American hegemony all over the world now. Let us also understand that the European Union and the United States have loaded up the Kiev government. The Kiev government has indebted the nation of Ukraine to billions of dollars to the West and that has not gone unnoticed by Russia as well.

And so the Kiev government is going to do the West’s bidding and I have said it before that the West’s first objective was to break up the Soviet Union, they accomplished that, and their ultimate objective is the further breakup and disintegration of the Russian Federation and Russia knows that. So we need to watch this very closely and the rest of the world needs to watch this very closely as the West runs around the world attempting to break up the territorial integrity of nation states.

Press TV: What do you think in your opinion needs to change for peace to come back to Ukraine?

Martin: I think ultimately the people in western Ukraine need to understand that they have been duped and they are being used as pawns in a geopolitical chess game that will not end well because the West will not invest their own national treasure and resources. They are perfectly willing to let their sons and daughters die for their geopolitical objectives and on a broader front the world needs to come together and reverse this economic terrorism against the West, against the United States and form alliances and isolate the West and United States economically and stop this economic terrorism, which the West routinely uses to further its geopolitical and military objectives.
