The United Arab Emirates has officially confirmed the death of its second officer in the ongoing aggression against Yemen waged by Saudi Arabia.
The General Command of UAE Armed Forces said in a statement on Thursday that First Lieutenant Abdul Aziz Sarhan Saleh Al Ka’abi has died in Yemen, without elaborating on the exact date, location or circumstances of the officer's death.
Ka’abi is the second Emirati serviceman to have been killed in Yemen since Riyadh launched its deadly airstrikes against the country on March 26, in a bid to undermine the ruling Ansarullah movement and restore power to the fugitive president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Back in June, a non-commissioned UAE officer identified as Hazim Obaid Al Ali died during military training for participation in the Saudi war on the impoverished Arab country.
The UAE has actively assisted Saudis in the aggression with unofficial reports putting the Persian Gulf country’s death toll in Yemen at much higher numbers.
Dozens of Saudi officers and soldiers have also lost their lives over the past three months in retaliatory attacks launched from inside Yemen. Scores of non-Saudi serviceman, including nationals of the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf region, have also died during the battle.
The illegal Saudi offensive has claimed the lives of more than 3,800 people in Yemen, according to the estimates provided by the United Nations agencies.
