What’s Ramadan in Palestine like?

Like their brethren all over the world, Palestinian Muslims are observing the month of Ramadan.

But Palestinian Muslims also face unique challenges while performing their Ramadan duties under Israeli occupation and discrimination.

Those wanting to pray at al-Aqsa Mosque face travel restrictions by Zionist authorities. This year only men over 40 were allowed to make the journey across checkpoints set up by Israelis in the occupied lands.

In Gaza, the humanitarian situation is so bad that many will have to rely on aid to get their iftaar meals.

And those Palestinians living in the occupied territories have also been subjected to systematic discrimination by Israeli authorities. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar where Muslims abstain from food and drinks from dawn to dusk.
