Iran rejects ties to Jordan terror suspect

Iran has rejected a claim by a Jordanian newspaper that a terror suspect recently arrested in the Arab country on suspicion of planning attacks is linked to what the daily calls an Iranian group.

An informed official at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, who spoke on condition of anonymity, rejected the allegation as baseless.

The official reaffirmed Iran’s policy to fully respect security, stability and territorial integrity of regional countries, stressing that Iran will spare no effort in that regard.

Jordan's al-Rai newspaper claimed on Monday that Amman had foiled a terror plot by a member of an Iranian-backed group.

The Jordanian daily also alleged that security forces had seized 45 kilograms (99 pounds) of high-grade explosives in the case.
