Politicians, faith groups and activists have gathered in London for consultation on tackling extremism amongst Britain’s young people. The 12-month initiative hopes to identify the drivers that are leading a growing number of young Britons towards extremism.

Many of us know something of their stories…young British men and women who have left relatively comfortable lives to join terror groups like ISIL.

Now two of the UK’s most influential groups looking at faith and engagement want to find out why by launching an innovative new consultation process that will provide answers on the reasons more British young people are seduced by extremism.

One of the overriding concerns is that on the list the voices of young people become central to the discussions about them and their motivations then this will continue to be pure guesswork and that could have dire consequences.

Also present were politicians included newly elected MP Naz Shah on hand to give her support.

Now the aim is to present a comprehensive document in just over a year that could be an invaluable tool in ensuring the stories of young people falling into the clutches of extremists becomes a thing of the past.
