73 Yemenis killed in Saudi airstrikes on Amran

The civilian death toll from the Saudi military campaign in Yemen is mounting, as warplanes keep pounding various locations across the impoverished country. 

In the latest attacks, Saudi jets have targeted a military base and a governmental building in Ibb province. Elswhere, at least 54 people lost their lives in the bombardment of the northern city of Amran. Some 20 people have also been killed after a police checkpoint was targeted at the entrance of the city. Earlier, more than 50 civilians were killed and dozens injured as Saudi aircraft attacked a local market in Lahij province. Over 4600 Yemenis, many of them women and children, have been killed in the Saudi onslaught which began in late March. The UN says 80 percent of Yemen's population need immediate help and 15 million people have no healthcare.
