Iranian rower pockets bronze in Asia event

The 2015 Asian Rowing Junior Championships opened in the central Chinese city of Wuhan on July 4, 2015, and wrapped on July 7.

Iranian sportsman Ali Shah-Mohammadnia has exhibited a satisfactory display of strength and athletic skills at the 21st edition of Asian Rowing Junior Championships in China, and been awarded the bronze medal.

On Tuesday, the final day of the competitions at East Lake in the city of Wuhan, Shah-Mohammadnia clocked 7 minutes and 33.61 seconds at the end of his campaign in the men's single sculls competitions to give Iran a third place.

A representative from Hong Kong stood on the top of the podium, and a sportsman from the host nation became the runner-up.

The development came a day after Maryam Karami snatched the first bronze medal for Iran in the women's single sculls with a time of 8 minutes and 13.68 seconds.

Female rowers from China and Japan claimed the gold and silver medals in this division respectively.

The 2015 Asian Rowing Junior Championships opened in the central Chinese city on July 4, and wrapped up three days later.

The sports event brought together more than 1,000 athletes from over 20 Asian countries.
