Four people, including 9-year-old girl, injured in Los Angeles

Deputies investigate the shootings of three people in Compton on July 6, 2015.

A 9-year-old girl and three men have been shot in two separate shooting incidents in the city of Compton, Los Angeles County, California, according to police.

In one incident, two suspects opened fire and shot a girl and two men near a fish market at South Central Avenue and West Alondra Boulevard on Monday evening, authorities said.

The two men were shot outside the fish market and the girl was shot a few blocks away. The men were hospitalized but their condition was not known. The girl was shot in the leg and was taken to a hospital with stable condition.

An investigation is underway but nobody has been arrested so far, police said.

In another shooting, a man was shot Monday near the intersection of Alameda and Cedar streets.

Two men were walking on Alameda Street when a vehicle pulled up next to them and shot several rounds with one of them striking one of the men in the leg.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, authorities said.

Weak gun laws that allow criminals to possess firearms legally are contributing to the high rate of gun violence in the US, according to a study by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Over 6,000 people have been killed and over 13,000 people have been injured by gun in the country since January 1, 2015, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
