Migrants storm Channel Tunnel

A large number of migrants disrupt Channel Tunnel Services by trying to board UK-bound freight.

A company in charge of operating Channel Tunnel linking UK to France has called for immediate action from authorities to find a solution to the migrant crisis.

The call comes after 150 migrants disrupted Channel Tunnel services by trying to storm the Calais terminal to board UK-bound freight.

Migrants take advantage of slow-moving traffic by trying to board UK-bound vehicles. This forces some drivers to take long detours to skip Calais altogether.

A spokesman for Eurotunnel said there had been a huge number of migrants in and around the area.

The spokesman added that the incident once again shows that the authorities have to restore order to the Calais region.

According to Eurotunnel, not enough is being done by the authorities to stop the migrants.

The European countries have been grappling with migrant crisis over the past few months. Earlier, UK government agreed to increase the joint intervention fund to improve security around the Channel Tunnel.
