  1. Iran’s Foreign minister has said in a new video message that despite some differences, Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries have never been closer to a lasting outcome to nuclear negotiations. Mohammad Javad Zarif also said that the West must choose between coercion or an agreement.
  2. The UN Human Rights Council, in a resolution, has denounced Israel's last summer’s 50-day offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip. The UN's top human rights body said it is appalled by the bloodshed. It demanded that violators of international law be brought to justice before domestic or international courts.
  3. Palestinians in the occupied West bank have held a funeral ceremony for a 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed earlier in the day by Israeli forces. Mohammad Kosba was shot by two bullets south of Ramallah for allegedly throwing stones at Israeli forces’ vehicles near the Qalandia checkpoint.
  4. Protesters in Bahrain take to the streets calling for the release of all political prisoners including prominent opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman. Demonstrations turned ugly in Eker and Sitra Island after regime forces attacked the protesters. Last month, a court in Bahrain sentenced Salman to four years in jail.
  5. At least 30 Afghan forces have been killed after Taliban militants attacked a number of police stations in the country's province of Wardak. Local authorities have called for immediate help to prevent Taliban from seizing Wardak. Taliban claim they have killed some 50 Afghan forces in the same assaults.
  6. Three bomb blasts inside and around the Iraqi capital Baghdad have killed nearly a dozen people. The deadliest bombing took place in the town of Mada’in, south of Baghdad. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. But officials blame ISIL terrorists for such assaults.
  7. Nearly two dozen people have been killed in Saudi airstrikes conducted on different parts of Yemen. Saudi warplanes attacked the capital Sana’a and destroyed the ministry of communication along with some nearby buildings. The southern province of Aden was also targeted by Saudi fighter jets.
  8. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has called on Greeks to vote NO in the upcoming referendum on international creditors’ demands and proposals. Tsipras also said that the latest report by the International Monetary Fund on Greece’s debt crisis fully justifies the government’s position that its debt load is unsustainable.
