US says it won't protect Israeli settlements against boycott

The US says it will not protect Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories against Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement led by some Palestinian organizations.
The US State Department said Washington strongly opposes such a campaign against Israel, but it will not extend such protection in QUOTE Israeli-controlled territories. It stressed that the White House has never backed Tel Aviv’s settlement policies. This comes after two American senators inserted a clause into the Trade Promotion Authority bill, which authorizes U-S diplomats to oppose any boycott of Israel or territories controlled by Tel Aviv. Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories are in violation of international law. Tel Aviv has been under mounting pressure in recent years over its aggressive polices against Palestinians.
