The Yemeni forces have fired several missiles on Saudi military bases in the southwestern Jizan border region as part of retaliatory strikes against Saudi Arabia for its ongoing aggression against the impoverished country.

Reports say Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters backed by forces of the popular committees managed to launch the fresh attacks against the military facilities late on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, the Yemeni army, backed by Ansarullah fighters, also pounded a Saudi airbase in Saudi Arabia's second-largest province of al-Riyadh with a Scud missile.

Yemenis have already warned of more missile strikes if Riyadh does not halt its attacks against their country.

In the latest military offensive against the crisis-hit country, Saudi airstrikes claimed the lives of four people in Hidan district in Yemen's northwestern province of Sa'ada.

The Saudi warplanes also launched two attacks on the town of Rahban in the same province late on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch has announced that Washington is potentially liable in the unlawful strikes as it is involved in refueling warplanes flying over Yemen and in providing targeting information for the Saudis.

The rights group had earlier said that Saudi Arabia has destroyed houses, markets and a school, and killed dozens of people in its aggression against Yemen, and Riyadh “appeared to violate international humanitarian law, also known as the laws of war, and resulted in numerous civilian deaths and injuries.”

On Tuesday, about 1,200 inmates managed to escape from a prison located outside Taiz, a city in the southern Yemen.

According to reports, the prison was captured by forces of the popular committees. The prison guards had earlier deserted their posts following clashes between Houthi fighters and their opponents, AFP reported.

Saudi Arabia has been pounding different areas in Yemen since March 26 without any authorization from the United Nations and heedless of international calls for the cessation of its deadly campaign against the impoverished Arab country.

According to the United Nations, over 2,600 Yemeni people have been killed and at least 11,000 others injured in Saudi Arabia's airstrikes.
