House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner has reassured US allies that Washington is committed to stand against Russian President Vladimir Putin by all means over the Ukraine crisis.

Following a meeting with Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaite in Lithuania, Boehner said the US Congress is ready to help regional countries against Russia.

“Whether it’s arming Ukraine or declaring energy independence, Lithuania sets an example for the region, and frankly, the world,” Boehner said during his three-day visit to Lithuania on Monday.

“The American people recognize that this threat demands decisive leadership and action. That’s why the Congress of the United States is working to ensure that tangible assistance is provided not only to Lithuania, but to all of our partners in the region,” he added.

Washington accuses Moscow of destabilizing the eastern Ukraine, an allegation denied by the Kremlin.

The Obama administration has repeatedly announced that it would support the Baltic states regarding the “Russian aggression” in the region.

The US military has conducted several war games in the Baltic Sea in the past months.

The Pentagon said 2,000 American troops and 3,600 troops from other nations participated in the Baltic Operations exercise in Poland, Sweden, Germany and the Baltic Sea earlier this month.

The UK, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and Turkey are the countries that are involved in the massive exercise.

The drills also included about 49 ships, 61 aircraft and one submarine.
