Israel’s creation ‘direct rebellion’ against God: US rabbi

“Any Jew who is true to his religion does not accept the taking over of Palestine, is in total opposition to the occupation."

The creation of Israel by Zionist Jews in 1948 was a “direct rebellion” against God and contrary to the teachings of the Torah, an American orthodox rabbi says.

“The concept of making this whole ‘state’ that was created over 60 years ago was a direct rebellion against the [God] Almighty who’s compassionate,” said Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, who is also an activist and spokesman for a minority branch of Neturei Karta, an anti-Zionist grouping of Haredi Jews.

Based in Monsey, New York, rabbi Weiss believes observant Jews should oppose the existence of Israel. He often speaks at rallies and conferences in the United States and internationally, criticizing Israel and Zionism.

“The Almighty in his Torah… said to the Jewish people to be subservient to him and that is all what Judaism is all about,” Weiss told Press TV in an interview on Monday.

Israel’s political ideology is Zionism and “they basically took God out of the equation, they threw the Almighty out, God forbid, this is what they’re all about,” he added.

A Jewish institute has proposed “outing” of anti-Israel professors from universities in the United States in order to reduce anti-Israel activity on American college campuses.

The Jewish People Policy Institute said in its 2014-2015 annual assessment that there are over 300 anti-Israel groups at American universities, which are responsible for resolutions passed by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Weiss slammed the institute’s suggestion for removing anti-Israeli professors from US universities as “vulgar” and “blatant.”

Weiss is a spokesman for a minority branch of Neturei Karta, a Jewish religious group that opposes Zionism and calls for a dismantling of Israel, in the belief that Jews are forbidden to have their own state.

“Any Jew who is true to his religion does not accept the taking over of Palestine, is in total opposition to the occupation,” he observed.

In December 2006, Weiss spoke at an international conference held in Tehran, Iran, in which he said Israelis have used the Holocaust to gain sympathy and advance their interests.

In the conference, he stated that “there are hundreds of thousands of Jews around the world who identify with our opposition to the Zionist ideology and who feel that Zionism is not Jewish, but a political agenda.”
