Dzhokhar Tsarnaev apologizes to victims, gets death sentence

A federal judge in the US state of Massachusetts has formally sentenced to death a man convicted of bombing Boston Marathon competition in 2013.

The decision to hand over death penalty to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had already been made by a grand jury back in May. During Wednesday’s court session, Tsarnaev apologized for his role in the deadly bombings and asked for forgiveness. No specific date has yet been set for his execution. Three people were killed and more than 260 others injured when the bombs went off at the finish line of the Marathon competition in Boston in April 2013.
