Syrian forces kill 19 ISIL militants in Homs
At least 19 members of the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group have been killed during clashes with Syrian forces in the central province of Homs.
According to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the terrorists were killed in an operation by the Syrian forces in the area of Jeb al-Jarah, northeast of the countryside of Homs.
The Britain-based group added that at least three Syrian forces were killed and six civilians, including children, sustained injuries during the clashes in the area.
Reports by the Syrian media also said that the army destroyed vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns belonging to the terrorist group.
It was also reported that the Syrian army units repelled an infiltration attempt by the ISIL terrorists into the villages of Maksar al-Hosan and Toloul al-Hawa, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) to the east of the city.
The Syrian army and pro-government forces also secured the area surrounding the Jazal oilfield near the ancient city of Palmyra in the central province.
The liberation of the region comes as part of the recent operations toward Palmyra. ISIL terrorists occupied Palmyra on May 21.
The Syrian army also conducted a series of operations in other provinces, including Quneitra, Dara’a, Hasakah, and Lattakia across the country, inflicting heavy losses on the Takfiri militants fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Syria has been beset by a deadly crisis since over four years ago. Western powers and some of their regional allies – especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey – are logistically and financially supporting the Takfiri militants operating in the Arab country. According to reports, the conflict has so far left more than 230,000 people, including almost 11,500 children, dead.
