Michael Oren ‘justifying Israel’s genocidal actions’ against Palestinians

Michael Oren is “justifying Israel’s genocidal actions against the Palestinian people and its refusal to make peace with the Palestinian people,” said Richard Forer.

Israel’s former ambassador to the US is seeking to justify Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinians by blaming President Barack Obama for souring the relationship between Washington and Tel Aviv, says a public speaker in Denver, Colorado.

Michael Oren is “justifying Israel’s genocidal actions against the Palestinian people and its refusal to make peace with the Palestinian people,” said Richard Forer, author of “Breakthrough: Transforming Fear into Compassion.”

“What you’re hearing from Israel is always irrational propaganda; it’s the propaganda of a people who do not think there’s anything wrong with them abusing another people, that there’s nothing wrong with them violating international law and basic human rights and that they should be given a pass,” Forer told Press TV on Wednesday.

In an op-ed published by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday titled "How Obama Abandoned Israel," Oren wrote that Obama deserves blame for souring the relationship between the United States and Israel.

He said the US president supported Iran and the Palestinians instead of Israel since he took office six years ago, adding that Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu both made mistakes, but only Obama did so "deliberately."

The former envoy also noted that President Obama in 2011 altered 40 years of US policy regarding the Israel-Palestinians conflict by endorsing the 1967 lines with land swaps as the basis for peace-making.

In 1967, Israel occupied the West Bank, al-Quds (Jerusalem), and the Gaza Strip. However, Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. The Palestinians want the borders of the future state of Palestine to be based on the pre-1967 lines.

Earlier this month, Obama warned that Israel is losing “credibility” among the international community over Netanyahu’s stance on the creation of a Palestinian state.
