Press TV has interviewed Deena Stryker, a journalist with opednews.com from Philadelphia, to ask for her insight on reports of new deaths amid renewed clashes in eastern Ukraine as well as their impact on the shaky truce between Kiev and pro-Russia forces.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: For how long do you think the ceasefire will hold out given the increasing violations of the truce and the latest deaths?

Stryker: Well, I think what’s important is the fact that they announced six deaths. I don’t think the six deaths [in itself] as much as the announcement, which must have some importance, as perhaps indicating that more fighting will be coming soon. I think the truce will degrade more and more as we go along.

Press TV: How much has Russia exercised restraint towards Ukraine and its Western supporters?

Stryker: Well, I think Russia has exercised considerable restraint given the power that it disposes ... I believe it has supported the pro-Russian separatists of Donetsk and Lugansk without actually penetrating the country as is claimed by the Western press.
