Car bomb explosion kills 14, injures 37 in Iraq
A car bomb explosion near a market place in the eastern Iraqi town of Balad Ruz has killed fourteen people and injured nearly forty others.
Police sources say the explosive-laden car was blown up Saturday night in the predominantly Shia town which is located 70 kilometers (45 miles) northeast of the capital city, Baghdad, AP reported.
Police cordoned off the blast area. Several shops and cars were damaged in the blast.
Local medics confirmed the death toll; however, all officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to news outlets.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the bombing but it bears the hallmarks of attacks by ISIL Takfiris.
ISIL Takfiri terrorists invaded Iraqi territory in June 2014, and took control of large swathes in the west and north of the country.
The extremist group has committed heinous acts and terrorized the various communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians in areas under their influence.
