US disingenuous in war against ISIL: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Steven Kelley, a former CIA/NSA contractor, in Los Angeles, to discuss recent gains achieved by the Iraqi troops against the Takfiri ISIL terrorist.

This is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: A lot of analysts are saying that the US is allowing ISIL terrorists to capture Iraqi cities one after another. How would this affect the war that is going on in Iraq and Syria?

Kelley: Well, it would certainly prolong it and it would cause more disruption and destruction of infrastructure of course with so quite a few purposes, naturally it would boost the sales of weapons, the expansion of money for continuation and support of the war machine that we have built here certainly.

Obviously, this is serving Israel’s interest. It is helping to decimate the large areas of population and keep them disorganized so there is no sort of front against Israel.

I do want to say though that the fact that these battles – just one today – were involving the Iraqi army, the Shias and the Sunnis working together should show the world that this polarity that is being used to divide these people and Balkanize the area is artificial and it also shows that Daesh certainly is not the representative of the population. So, I certainly commend these people on their successes today.

Press TV: And of course, the seriousness of the US has also been questioned in this war against ISIL. The Iraqi government has admitted that it needs intelligence to fight ISIL. Why do you think the United States does not literally provide intelligence for Iraq?

Kelley: Well, obviously as we all know it’s a desert, we certainly have the satellites and reconnaissance aircraft available to provide pinpoint accuracy, information as to where the enemy actually is, so the fact that this information has not been provided of course shows that this effort is disingenuous.

I would like to think that perhaps Iraq could turn to [a] different source for this sort of information, intelligence, perhaps the French or the Russians, I think they also could provide this sort of intelligence.

Press TV: And finally, how long do you think the United States can act like this?

Kelley: Well, obviously, as we all know, our economy and our survival right now apparently is dependent completely on preservation of the petrodollar and the constant flow of money into the war machine and of course we are at Israel’s bidding and Israel seems to be determined to suck all the blood out of the United States and cast us aside. I expect that they will continue to do that at least until we’ve completely destroyed all of their perceived enemies, and obviously Iran is the ultimate goal for this pursuit of greater Israel.
