Terror tactic, ISIL’s main weapon: Academic

Press TV has conducted an interview with Sami Ramadani, with the London Metropolitan University, about several mass graves found across the Iraqi city of Tikrit, which was previously under the control of Takfiri ISIL terrorists.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: These mass graves are basically a testament to the human rights abuses and the war crimes that ISIL is committing in different parts of Iraq and Syria. Your thoughts.

Ramadani: Basically ISIS (ISIL) makes its own publicity in fact of the crimes it commits. It is proud of the murders and the massacres that commits against innocent civilians, against all people - Shias, Christians, Sunnis - who oppose them or do not adhere to their interpretation, Wahhabi interpretation of Islam, which is alien to 99 percent of Muslims in the world.

So they have a policy and a practice of terrorizing the local population. In fact their terror message precedes them. So they use this terrorist tactic not only to silence any opposition and to practice their violent sectarianism, but also to spread fear and terror before they move into areas both in Iraq and in Syria.

This is one of their main weapons in fact to spread fear and terror among people, among women specially, because they have committed all forms of wild crimes against women in Mosul and in other parts of Iraq where they occupied in Diala and so on.

Press TV: As these atrocities come to light with the liberation of more and more places in Iraq, for example, how important is it for people within Iraq and within the region to unite to fight these terrorists, because right now we are still seeing this terror group is receiving funding, it is receiving ideological support and it is receiving financial support as well?

Ramadani: I am not alone in saying and thinking that this organization could not possibly survive without this enormous funding resources that it receives from Saudi Arabia, from Qatar, from other [Persian] Gulf regimes and princes and princesses who have close links not only with ISIS, but with other terrorist organizations like al-Nusra Front in Syria and so on and they are also linked to extremely sectarian organizations which are again funded by the Saudis and Qataris.

They also receive logistical support through Turkey. So the finance comes from the Saudis and Qataris and the logistical support comes from Turkey and even some of their injured end up in Israeli field hospitals in the occupied Golan Heights.

So you have a situation where even when the United States pretends to be fighting them, really Iraqis know on the ground, now this is not really serious.
