Queen speech signals more UK austerity

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II has officially unveiled a list of proposed legislation that will form the backbone of the first Conservative government for over two decades. At the state opening of parliament, the Queen read out a list of proposals, including laws, to hold a referendum on EU membership, as well as giving Scotland more autonomy. Critics say it was simply more years of austerity which will be a blow to the country’s poorest.
