Four people have been critically injured in another shooting incident in the US state of Missouri, according to local media report.

Police investigates the shooting that occurred late Sunday night just north of Jefferson and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in St. Louis, Missouri.

Two men and two women were transferred to a nearby hospital where they remained in critical condition.

Shooting incidents are common in the United States.

In three other separate shootings in the city, a 19-year-old male was killed and two others injured late Thursday night.

A police officer was also shot dead in a cruiser in New Orleans on Sunday morning, according to police officials.

The shootings of several unarmed African-Americans by American police officers in the past months angered people across the country.

Americans took to the streets nationwide to protest US police brutality against minorities.

The US averages 87 gun deaths each day as a function of gun violence, with an average of 183 injured, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab and the Centers for Disease Control.

About 4.5 million firearms are sold annually in the United States at a cost of 2 to 3 billion dollars.
