Golden State beat Houston 115-80 in Western Conference finals game 3

Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry (30) is trying to score as the Houston Rockets’ Dwight Howard (12) tries to control him during game 3 of the NBA Western Conference finals held in Houston on May 23.

The Golden State Warriors are now only one win away from sealing the NBA Western Conference finals after they thrashed their hosts the Houston Rockets 115-80 in game 3.

The Rockets had lost the first 2 games with a combined deficit of only 5 points but what happened at the Toyota Center on Saturday was totally unexpected.

The visitors pulled away from the very first quarter and never looked back on their way to winning all the frames and the game with 35 points. The Warriors began with winning the first frame 30-18.

The advantage kept growing for Golden State in the second frame as Stephen Curry made it a 17 point game with a long three pointer that made it 49-32. Curry was superb for his side with an incredible 40 points. He also broke the record for most three-pointers in a single season’s playoffs with 64, seven of which came on Saturday. The away team led 62-37 at the intermission.

Curry and his Warriors side were unstoppable after the break with another 30 points in the third frame versus the hosts’ 24. The 27 year old put his side ahead by 31 points with another one of his 3s that made it 92-61 just as the third quarter finished.

The Rockets were just as harmless in the final frame and their 19 points there did nothing against the visitors 23 and the Warriors went on to win the game 115-80.

Game 4 will also be held in Houston on May 26 and another win for the Warriors sends them to the NBA finals for the first time in 40 years.
