Press TV has conducted an interview with Ibrahim Mousawi, a political commentator in Beirut, about the United States approving a nearly two-billion-dollar arms deal with the Israeli regime.

The following is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Give us your thoughts on the fact that the United States keeps arming the Israeli regime.

Mousawi: We know very well that every president comes and he gives this pledge of oath to continue to support Israel with the guaranteeing and the insurance of its supremacy. They used to say all over the Arab armies or together, we know now that most of the Arab armies are busy doing something else. When you talk about the resistance, the axis of the resistance, when you talk about the people who are steadfast against the Israeli occupation, against the Zionist conspiracies, then the United States is in a track of collision, of a crash with those people, with those who really want to continue to adhere to the identity of Palestine for example and most of the other Arab occupied territories.

We know very well that the Israelis still occupy parts of Lebanon. When you talk about Sinai desert it is not completely independent, you talk about parts of Jordan, so here you are talking about a complete threat. More importantly one of the new appointed officials in the Israeli ... [regime] by Netanyahu has again and again brought up to the surface the issue that the borders of Israel stretches from Nile to Euphrates. Here they are talking about nonrecognition of the different parts, even of the West Bank. They talk about Jordan even.

So you see as much as the Israelis are escalating their political stances against the Arabs and the Muslims and the Palestinians at a time when they are talking about two-state solution, when they are talking about giving remnants of ... to the Palestinians, the Israelis are doing everything possible in order to liquidate any possible settlement which is going to be unfair for the Palestinians anyway but they will not accept it. So here when you talk about the American policy, you are talking about an area, a territory that is being occupied by the Israelis. The Israelis have the upper hand in getting as much support as they want and we know that there is a kind of law there in the United States, if you give your donations to Israel you will be exempted from the taxes, which is very sacred in the American system.

Press TV: The Israeli regime is obviously an aggressor entity not only is the United States being seen as complicit by providing the Israelis with this advance weaponry but it is also inciting and encouraging war in the region as well?

Mousawi: Absolutely. Now the Israelis are dancing and they are very happy about what is happening. We are talking about a long-perpetrated, long-mediated plan to partition and to divide the already divided countries, to disintegrate the different entities. They want to see Iraq three states - like the Kurdish and the Sunni and the Shia - they want to see four or five states even in Syria, they want to have it even [in] Saudi Arabia. Those who believe that they are immune to the Israeli conspiracy are completely mistaken.

The number one Israeli plan now is to disintegrate the region upon the new lines. When we talk about Sykes–Picot a hundred years ago, now we can talk about a new plan, a new plot against the region in order to make the 'Jewish state' a kind of ordinary, normal, usual solution. If they want to have their own racist state ... they want to justify this by creating religious states, confessional states all over the region and this only happens through the wars that take place inside these countries among the different constituencies and this will help a lot the Israelis to live in a kind of security. I can say only one simple thing here. When they are trying to get more advanced weapons, this means that they feel more threat and they have to feel it because the people in the region, the axis of the resistance is not going to accept in any way the continuation of the presence of such an existence in the region.
