Rare occurrence takes place in skies of Mexico City

Rainbows and other odd weather phenomena have been witnessed on countless occasions, but solar halos are something else.

Passersby in the Mexican capital have been fascinated by a circular solar halo in the skies. Mexico’s National Weather Service has explained that the occurrence is a luminous photometer-shaped ring of 22 to 46 degrees centered on a star. Local media reports say that the natural phenomenon was visible in three cities. Many enthusiasts in Mexico City were seen taking photos of the halo to record the rare event.
