Iran routs Czech in volleyball friendly

Iran’s world-class volleyball team has drubbed the Czech national side in a friendly match in Ceske Budejovice, a city south of the capital city Prague.

Iran, which is prepping for 26th edition of the annual men's international tournament, 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League, whitewashed the host 25-18, 25-21, 25-15 on Friday.

The Serbian coach Slobadan Kovac pitted Saeid Marouf, Mohammad Mousavi, Saman Faezi, Shahram Mahmoudi, Abdolreza Alizadeh, Farhad Qaemi, and Mojtaba Mirza-Babajanzadeh as the starting lineup in the warm-up match.

Mahmoudi got the highest points, 16, for Iran in the three-set friendly.

The two sides are to play in their second meet on Saturday.

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League, attended by 32 countries, kicked off on May 16 and will run through July 19.

Iran, the United States, Poland, and Russia are in Pool B of Group 1.

In its first two matches, Iran will take on the United States in Galen Center of Los Angeles on May 30 and 31.

Iran finished fourth in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League.
