Saudi Arabia targets residential area in Yemen’s Sa'ada
Saudi warplanes have attacked a residential area in Yemen’s northwestern Sa'ada province as the onslaught on the improvised Arab nation continues.
Saudi jets also carried out raids on multiple areas in the southwestern province of Lahij early on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Saudi warplanes targeted a barracks in the western province of Hudaydah and various targets in the capital city Sana’a and the southwestern province of Ibb.
The Saudi military also shelled a number of regions in Yemen's eastern provinces of Hajjah and Sana’a.
Also on Wednesday, the UN announced that it will hold peace talks aiming to end the crisis in Yemen, starting on May 28 in Switzerland.
According to Yemen's Freedom House Foundation, the Saudi airstrikes have claimed the lives of about 4,000 Yemeni people so far while more than 6,887 others have been wounded.
About 16 million of Yemen’s population of 25 million need assistance and water supplies, and health services are on the verge of collapse, aid organizations have warned.
Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 -- without a UN mandate -- in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement, which currently controls Sana’a and other major provinces, and to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh.
