Three bodies have been found with the wreckage of a US Marine helicopter that disappeared this week while delivering aid near the Chinese border in Nepal.

The wreckage was found in a burned condition, Nepal's Defense Secretary Ishwori Paudyal told CNN on Friday.

Six US Marines and two Nepali soldiers were on board the UH-1Y Huey helicopter.

There is "no chance" of survivors, Nepali officials said.

A local army official said the wreckage had been found on the steep slopes of a mountain east of Kathmandu.

The helicopter was delivering aid to the victims of a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that rocked Nepal on April 25.

More than 8,000 people were killed and many more injured in the earthquake.

Some 300 American military personnel are in the Asian country to provide humanitarian support and disaster relief supplies.
