Israel concerned over Syria, Hezbollah victories in Qalamoun

A picture released by the Hezbollah press office on May 13, 2015, shows a Hezbollah fighter erecting the flag of the party on the Tallet Moussa area on the Syrian side of the al-Qalamoun region.

The Israeli regime is deeply concerned over the recent victories of the Syrian army and the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, against Takfiri terrorists in the strategic region of al-Qalamoun along the Syrian-Lebanese border, Press TV reports.

After gaining strategic grounds from Takfiri terrorists in recent days, the Syrian forces and Hezbollah fighters are now planning to bring the whole region under their control, a move which has greatly worried the Tel Aviv regime.

The Tel Aviv regime has never denied that it is backing Takfiri elements in Syria, Hicham Jaber, a retired general of the Lebanese army, told Press TV, adding that Israeli officials are increasingly become more concerned over the recurrent defeats of terrorist groups in Syria,

Israel is also terrified by the wealth of combat experience that Hezbollah has achieved as a result of taking part in the war against Takfiri terrorists operating in Syria, the report added.

In recent week, Syrian government forces backed by Hezbollah fighters have managed to flush Takfiri elements out of several key areas in the mountainous region of Qalamoun, which had been used for long by ISIL and al-Nusra terrorist groups as a logistical supply line.

The joint operation, which started earlier in the month, has pushed the Takfiris further away from the Lebanese border, and at the same time has tightened the Syrian government’s grip on the capital city of Damascus which is located only 36 kilometers away from the region.

Syria has been struggling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 222,000 people, according to reports.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says over 7.2 million people have also been internally displaced while more than three million others have fled Syria due to the crisis in the Arab country.
