An American political analyst in China has condemned the United States’ three hundred years of history of land garbs.

The worldwide US presence “is truly staggering and bloody when compared to this peaceful expansion into the South China Sea by China," Kim Petersen, co-editor of Dissident Voice, said in a phone interview with Press TV on Thursday.

His comments came after Washington warned China on Wednesday over its construction projects in the South China Sea area as tensions escalate between Washington and Beijing.

Tensions were rising between the United States and China following a proposed US military plan to send aircraft and Navy ships near the disputed islands to contest Chinese territorial claims over the area.

Petersen said that compared with China, the US annexes more offshore and populated territories as far as “Hawaii, Guam, Marshall Islands, American Samoa.”

According to Petersen, “We can also look at the Chagos Archipelago where the entire population was ethnically cleansed to put a US base there, although it’s considered a British colony [but] run by the US.”

Washington accuses Beijing of rapidly building artificial islands in the Spratlys, an archipelago of more than a hundred islands, reefs and atolls between Vietnam and the Philippines.

Beijing claims sovereignty over nearly all of the South China Sea, which is also claimed in part by Taiwan, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.

“This is a question of who has sovereignty over the islets in the South China Sea,” stated Petersen. “The US is not the arbiter of this sovereignty. Furthermore, the US, gearing up its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, lent itself the charges of hypocrisy.”

Petersen also slammed the illegal presence of Washington’s role in Libya, Iraq, Syria, and in the occupied Palestinian territories and Washington’s unconditional support for Israel’s crimes.

He also cited Washington’s recent “belligerence towards Iran and nuclear-armed Russia.”

He concluded that it looks like nuclear armed China is now being targeted by America’s military.

The United States has expanded its original borders since 1783 in a series of annexations, and territorial accusations in places that were once inhabited by original inhabitants including Native Americans.
