The Syrian army has carried out a series of military operations against terrorists' strongholds in different parts of the Arab country, including the mountainous Qalamoun region near the border with Lebanon.

The army managed to recapture the al-Kherbeh crossing in Qalamoun, killing dozens of terrorists in the area and hunting down the remaining, a military source told the Syrian news agency, SANA.

The al-Kherbeh crossing was used by terrorists to infiltrate from Lebanon and join the al-Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations in the Qalamoun region, where battles with militants are raging on.

Dozens of terrorists were also confirmed dead during the army operations in the region.

Homs Province

In Homs Province, the army’s air force targeted ISIL strongholds in Ber Hawaya in Homs countryside, killing a number of terrorists and inuring many others. The army units also destroyed militant equipment and vehicles.

Earlier, units of the army killed and wounded scores of ISIL terrorists in separate operations to the northwest of the al-Sha’air oilfield as well as in Rahoum village.

The Syrian army also killed several Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists and destroyed their vehicles in Kafar Shams and Zamrin villages in the countryside of Dara’a Province.

A number of terrorists were also killed while others injured when the army launched operations in the al-Minshia area of the Dara’a al-Balad neighborhood.

Syria has been struggling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 222,000 people, according to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says over 7.2 million people have also been internally displaced, while more than 3 million others have fled the country due to the crisis in the Arab country.
