How do women fare in Iran?

Half the population of the world is made up of women. The 20th century is marked as a remarkable historical period for women because it brought them major achievements regarding their rights: they stepped out of their houses to enter the working world, and obtained suffrage after decades of debate.

However, there still remain serious economic challenges for females in their struggle to gain their rights. One such challenge is discrimination against them in the workplace.

So how are women faring in the Islamic Republic of Iran?
